Strasbourg : unusual MICE venues in the shadow of its famous cathedral

With its rich history and architectural heritage, its gastronomy and strong traditional life style, Strasbourg in Eastern France is one of Europe’s most distinctive meeting destinations. As the seat of major European institutions and home to modern convention and exhibition infrastructures, Strasbourg has long attracted international congresses and corporate meetings.

Yet beyond its established conference facilities lies a portfolio of exceptional venues that transform meetings into immersive experiences. In the shadow of its iconic cathedral, Strasbourg’s history, creativity and innovation come together to offer surprising venues for MICE organizers.

Turning a MICE event into a memorable one is easy in Strasbourg, especially as its Convention and Visitors Bureau is ready to help with unusual concepts and ideas

1900-style elegance at Madame C.

A successful event often begins with the right atmosphere. Nestled in Strasbourg’s city center, Madame C. Hôtel -with only 12 rooms- brings a fresh perspective to business hospitality through an intimate blend of luxury charm with a witty perspective… Madame C. is indeed a 4-star boutique hotel property taking its guests back to the French Belle Epoque where seduction was an art. Madame C combines mystery and sophistication, hedonism and excellence.

Its exclusive event spaces are perfect for personalized meetings, executive board sessions and small-scale incentives. Elegant meeting rooms filled with refined interiors, an excellent restaurant and cocktail bar with 24-hour food service turn the hotel into an unusual discovery for a stay or/and for a meeting!

Strasbourg more surprising museum

For organizers searching for an unforgettable evening venue, Strasbourg’s Voodoo Museum (Château Vodou) offers an experience unlike any traditional reception space. Located in a 120-year old water-tower, shaped like a medieval fortress next to the rail station, the place originally served to wash trains and supply them with water.

Now home to one of Europe’s most important collections dedicated to Voodoo culture, the museum invites guests into a fascinating world of African, Caribbean and Haitian traditions.

Atmospheric exhibition galleries become unique settings for cocktail receptions, private dinners or exclusive networking events. The top floor is conceived to accommodate 60 seating delegates or to welcome an event for a cocktail or reception for up to 110 participants. This includes also private visits with guides surrounded by the exceptional collection of sculptures and costumes.

Art Nouveau grandeur at the Municipal Baths

Few cities can offer an event venue inside one of Europe’s most beautiful historic bathhouses. Completed in 1908, Strasbourg’s Municipal Baths were groundbreaking for their time, both in function and design. Conceived as a model of the early 20th-century public health movement, the building reflected a contemporary vision of hygiene and well-being in a stunning Art Nouveau masterpiece. Each room has its own distinct identity with natural light, sculptures and floors of marble and ceramics.

Recently, the Municipal Baths underwent an ambitious restoration that carefully preserved their architectural heritage while adapting the complex for contemporary use.

Today, this 7,000-square-meter historic landmark, one of the architectural jewels of Strasbourg’s German-built Neustadt district, continues its wellness mission around four complementary experiences: aquatic activities, spa and wellness, fitness, and a teaching kitchen. Three rooms can be privatized accommodating up to 300 people.

The venue also offers a range of services tailored to the meetings, incentives, conferences and events (MICE) market, including:

  • Exclusive hire of selected spaces, including swimming pools, Roman baths, modern balneotherapy areas, treatment rooms, the teaching kitchen and outdoor terrace.

  • Customized, one-of-a-kind corporate events that combine wellness, gastronomy and cultural experiences. A popular option is a breakfast overlooking the main pool (Grand Bassin).

  • Preferential wellness ticketing programs for corporate groups.

For event planners seeking an extraordinary setting, the Municipal Baths are a sophisticated and unmistakably unique venue.

A church transformed for today’s events

Perhaps the most striking example of Strasbourg’s creative approach to venue development is the former Church of Saint-Pierre-le-Vieux.

Once a place of worship, the beautifully preserved Gothic church from the 14th century has evolved into a cultural and community-oriented venue also capable of hosting conferences, concerts, gala dinners and prestigious receptions. Towering vaulted ceilings, centuries-old stonework and carefully integrated audiovisual technology combine to create an event space that balances historic character with modern comfort. All in the historical center of Strasbourg, less than 10 minutes away walk from the main rail station.

A city designed for meaningful connections

These remarkable venues are only part of Strasbourg’s appeal. The city consistently ranks among France’s leading destinations for meetings thanks to its strategic location at the crossroads of Europe. High-speed rail places Paris less than two hours away, while Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg are all within easy reach. Strasbourg airport offers a limited number of flights to European and Mediterranean cities.

Compact and highly walkable, Strasbourg allows delegates to move easily between hotels, restaurants, cultural attractions and meeting venues without lengthy transfers and mostly by walking, cycling or taking public transport. Michelin-starred dining sits alongside traditional Alsatian wine taverns (Wynstub), while river cruises, museums and guided heritage tours provide countless opportunities for incentive programs and accompanying guests. Strasbourg is definitely more than just its cathedral!
